Though arriving to Barcelona by a private car is not necessary and it is usually a real burden, there are some tourists who are traveling around Spain by a rented car and start or end their travel in Barcelona or take a short pause there.
Those who visit Barcelona by car have to take into consideration some aspects. Firstly, it is hard to find a parking lot in the city center. Secondly, the traffic is quite inconvenient and problematic on the streets of the city. La Rambla and Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) are partially closed to unauthorized private vehicles and the main streets such as Avinguda Diagonal or Gran Via are very busy during the day.
