General Information
Plaça de Sant Jaume is the ruling center of the Catalonia region and the center of the Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic) of Barcelona‘s Old Town. The Gothic Quarter has many interesting attractions and because of this a lot of guided tours are offered in this area. Of course, you can also take a walk and enjoy the quarter by yourself without a guided tour, but you might miss some interesting facts that the torus would reveal.
Tourists can choose from different tours which present general information about the city and the quarter. Furthermore, they can participate in a lot of special tours too, such as cultural tours, historical tours, architectural tours, bicycle tours and local food tours. The most famous food tours are the tapas tours and the chocolate tours. Many of these tours are free but you are expected to pay a tip after the tour (for additional information – Free Guided Tours in Gothic Quarter).
Beside these options, tourists can enjoy traveling by the tourist bus of Barcelona or visit some of the numerous restaurants and pubs of the quarter. In addition to these attractions, in the Gothic Quarter there are a lot of dance shows. For example, tourists who visit Placa de la Seu on Sunday at noon can enjoy an interesting Sardana dance show, where they can also join the dancers (for additional information – Gothic Quarter on Sundays and Sundays in Barcelona), and you can also find flamenco shows and many other different attractions in this area.
