General Information
PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, otherwise known as Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, is considered one of the most popular water parks in Spain. The water park lies within PortAventura World, also viewed as an entertaining leisure complex, featuring Spain’s notorious theme park, PortAventura Park. Designed with a tropical, Caribbean theme as a defining feature, the water park is located in Salou, on the Costa Dorada, ranking high among the most-visited tourist attractions in Spain.
In a short historical note, the resort opened its gates to visitors for the first time on the 1st of May, 1995 and has faced a series of successful re-branding strategies, previously being owned by Universal Studios starting with 1997. Thereby, Costa Caribe water park was built under the Universal Studios ownership in 2000 and it was inaugurated in 2002. The existing business was ultimately sold to La Caixa’s Criteria and the resort has returned to its initial name. Meanwhile Costa Caribe water park became, from 2010 to today, PortAventura Aquatic Park, Costa Caribe and it is currently registered under PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park.
Up to this day, PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park arranges an engaging atmosphere for a family day out, in order to ensure that every visitor is introduced to multiple relaxing and fun-filled activities. Being accessible to the entire family, the modern setting promises more than just water play attractions. Therefore, the venue is intended to offer an adventurous vacation for local tourists and for those traveling from all around the world (for additional information – Kids and Families in Barcelona and Attractions and Tours in Barcelona).
