Parc d'atraccions Tibidabo

General Information

The Parc d’Atraccions Tibidabo (Tibidabo Amusement Park) is a small amusement park situated on a mountain near Barcelona. The park provides different recreating facilities which are exciting but a bit out-of-date. It is almost one hundred years old and is an important part of the city’s tradition. The park is managed by the Municipality of Barcelona.

On the top of the mountain one can admire Barcelona and the sea from a bird’s-eye view and visit a nice Gothic church, namely the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor). During summers it is possible to rent a bicycle and take a tour on the hill (for additional information – Attractions and Tours near Tibidabo Amusement Park and Attractions and Tours in Barcelona).

In the park one can find various attractions such as a roller coaster and typical facilities from the first half of the 20th century. Additionally, one can watch a 3D movie in the cinema of the park, participate in interesting shows organised mainly for children (for additional information – Kids and Families in Parc d’atraccions Tibidabo and Kids and Families in Barcelona) or get a meal at one of the fast-food stands. The ticket includes almost all facilities available in the park, exception are installations and the small dining room- that charges an extra fee.

Arriving to Parc d'atraccions Tibidabo

While arriving to the park one can choose between several options.

The funicular – arriving with the funicular (FV) to the park is not an easy task, and definitely not an affordable one, but it sure is a lot more adventures. In order to get to the actual funicular station, you will need to take a train (from Plaça Catalunya – ESS1 or S2), and after you get off the funicular there is one more bus (111) to the actual park.

Another option, is to take a direct bus from Plaça Catalunya, Bus T2A, perfect for the ones staying in the surroundings of Plaça Catalunya (for additional information – Hotels near Plaça Catalunya).

The third option is to take advantage of the free shuttle the park is running, it leaves every 30 minutes on every day that the amusement park is open. The location of the station is quite far from the center, and most tourists would probably need to transport themselves to this point. You can reach the station by metro L3 (green) and L5 (blue), or by bus no. 19, 27, 60, 76, 119, 185, B19, H4, N4, V15. This option is great for the ones traveling by car, since there is a reasonable priced parking lot near the station (traveling with a car all the way to the park in not recommended since the parking fees are high and the road is a bit complicated). (for additional information – Car Rental in Barcelona and Car Rental in Spain).

Location of the station – Paseo de la Vall d’Hebron, 138-176, just in front of the Vall d’Hebron hospital complex. This is also a great options for the ones who purchased Barcelona Card – free transportation inside Barcelona combined with the free shuttle – makes the entire ride completely free (for additional information – Barcelona for Free).

Tips and Recommendations for Visiting Tibidabo Amusement Park

  • The Tibidabo Amusement Park is mostly recommended for those families who do not have the possibility or do not want to go to PortAventura which is a similar theme park but a little bit more adventurous and fun. Kids who are not higher than 90 cm do enter for free. Children who are higher than 90cm but shorter than 120 cm get a discount. Those who are higher than 120 cm cannot get a discount but they can use all of the facilities in the park. To save money and time, we suggest using only the the top-level facilities (for additional information – Kids and Families in Tibidabo Amusement Park and Kids and Families in Barcelona).
  • Tibidabo Amusement Park is also recommended for those who visit Barcelona for a second or third time and and want to see something special that they cannot see elsewhere.
  • Tibidabo Amusement Park is not recommended for disabled people because it is not wheelchair-friendly (for additional information – Accessibility in Tibidabo Amusement Park and Accessibility in Barcelona).

Tips for Entering Tibidabo Amusement Park:

  • Opening hours of the Tibidabo Amusement Park are not the same for every week / month. For example, in December the park is open only between 12:00 and 16:00. We strongly recommend to check it on the park’s website before your visit (for additional information – Parc d’atraccions Tibidabo Recommended Hours).
  • The main advantage of the Tibidabo Amusement Park is that the queues to the facilities are not long. In the high season (summer), there can be exceptions (for additional information – Parc d’atraccions Tibidabo Tickets in Advance and Parc d’atraccions Tibidabo Recommended Hours).
  • Since the Tibidabo Amusement Park is an open area, it is recommend to avoid it when the weather is extremely hot or rainy (for additional information – Weather in Barcelona).
  • Tibidabo Amusement Park offers different ticket options. One of the ticket includes entry to all of the attractions, while another provide entry just for special facilities. There are also special tickets for different types of visitors such as children, pensioners and disabled people. A combined ticket for the park and public transportation is also available (for additional information – Parc d’atraccions Tibidabo Ticket).
  • The approximate time of visit is 3 hours including the journey to the park.

Tips for Transportation to Tibidabo Amusement Park:

  • Using the funicular is a special experience and it is very recommended. However, please note this is the most touristic way to arrive to the park, therefore – the most expensive one. For the ones choosing this option it is advised to use it only for one way, and not as a round trip. Other than the fact it is more expensive, it also takes longer and requires quite a few changes. Best recommended to use it when going to the park, and on the way back, when everyone are tired and exhausted – use a different mean of transportation.
  • For the ones traveling by car in Barcelona it is highly recommended to use the free shuttle, next to its station there is a cheap parking lot (5 Euros per day Vs 10 Euros in the park). (for additional information – Car Rental in Barcelona and Car Rental in Spain).
