If you would like to reserve accommodation in Barcelona as a tourist with limited mobility, it is recommended to check in advance if the hotel is accessible by wheelchair and if there are provided such facilities as a working and spacious elevator, rooms suitable for people with disabilities, particular parking spaces etc (for additional information – Car Rental in Barcelona and Car Rental in Spain).

There are quite a few hotels in Barcelona that meet these requirements. It is important to emphasize that most of the wheelchair-friendly hotels are relatively expensive (three, four or five star hotels). The most recommended areas for accessible hotels would be the south part of Eixampla and the surroundings of Plaça de Catalunya – it is a central location, with wide streets and accessible metro stations. It is highly recommended to avoid areas such as the Gothic Quarter and El Born due to their very narrow streets.
