Kids and Families in Museu Picasso

General Information

This attraction is not the first one that comes to someone’s mind when thinking of a place to visit with children in Barcelona. Unlike the other European museums that are family and children oriented, have special programs, playgrounds and attractions designed for kids like the Joan Miró Museum, the Museu Picasso does not have these options for its visitors.

Even though the museum is not designed for children, there are many families that come and visit with their children, mostly due to the painters popularity. Another reason could be the part of the exhibition that focuses on the childhood of Pablo Picasso. Children and teenagers can relate more to the artist by seeing his first oil paintings from the time he was 16 years old and just started his amazing work.

Children younger than 18 are entitled to a free entrance, also adults younger than 25 are entitled to a discounted price (for additional information – Museu Picasso Tickets). This makes Museu Picasso a good attraction to see if you are visiting with a family of many children and are traveling in Barcelona on a low budget (for additional information – Kids and Families in Barcelona and Barcelona for Free).

If you decide to come with children it is recommended to plan ahead and think about how much time you will spend at the museum, since children can lose their focus easily here. Our advice is to combine your visit with another attraction in El Born quarter or with a trip to one of the chocolate shops next to the museum or the nearby Museu De La Xocolata (Chocolate Museum).
