General Information

Today, in most of the hotels in Barcelona it is not allowed to smoke in the rooms. Due to the strong demand of non-smoker guests and to the smoke detectors installed in many rooms (that are usually not sensitive enough to make a distinction between a cigarette and a fire), finding a hotel room where it is allowed to smoke is not a simple task.

One can either find an accommodation with the possibility of smoking in the room, or, a room with a balcony where you can smoke. The second option is more likely. Please note that the smoking rooms are usually located on the lower floors in large hotels and you need to mention in advance that you are interested in a smoking room.

Another option is a pre-defined smoking area (sometimes on each floor there will be such an area, sometimes only in one specific location in the building). But note that there are also hotels where smoking is not allowed at all, and you will be asked to leave the hotel – which can be inconvenient on cold winter days or on hot summer days. In order to avoid such situations, we have compiled a list of hotels where it is allowed to smoke in the hotel grounds.

If you are a smoker, it is recommended to check before you book a hotel if there is an area designated for smoking, or not.
