General Information
There are two ways to visit Gran Teatre del Liceu (Opera House Liceu), one can either purchase tickets to watch an event like a show or a concert, or join a guided tour that provides information about the architecture and history of the building. If you are interested in architecture and the history of Barcelona and want to see something different from the main tourist attractions of the city, or you are visiting Barcelona for the second or third time, it is recommended to join the tour.
There are many types of guided tours. The longest option is the full tour that takes almost approximately 50 minutes. It runs every day between Monday to Friday starting at the following hours: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30 (for additional information – Recommended Hours to Visit Gran Teatre del Liceu). It is available in Catalan, Spanish and English.
There is also an express tour that is a little bit shorter than the first option. It lasts 45 minutes and it is available in more languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, German, Chinese, Italian, Japanese and Russian. This kind of tour is cheaper than the full tours and includes almost all of the attractions included in the normal tour but it is quicker. This tour is recommended for families with children (for additional information – Kids and Families in Gran Teatre del Liceu). Express tours runs every day, hourly, between 14:00 and 18:00. On weekends they start at 9:30 am.
If your time is very limited and you are not especially interested in architecture and history but want to see Gran Teatre del Liceu, you can participate in a short express tour that takes only 30 minutes. This tour starts everyday at 13:30. You will see all of the building but the explanation is less than in case of other tours. Another advantage is that this kind of tour is quite cheap. It is also available in many languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, German, Chinese, Italian, Japanese and Russian.
There also a premium tour behind the scenes. In this case details need to be specified in advance on the official website of Gran Teatre del Liceu.
If you want to see the theater together with other attractions in Barcelona you can join to one of the general, historical or architectural tours in the city. Most of them pass by the opera house and tell some interesting information about it even if they do not visit it from inside (for additional information – Attractions and Tours in Barcelona).
