Barcelona Airport Private Transfer or Train

Q: Which one is the better solution if I want to arrive from the airport to Barcelona - Private Transfer or train?

A: Barcelona airport private transfer is a very fast, direct, convenient and personalized way of getting to Barcelona from the airport. It advantageous for those who want to arrive to the less central districts of the city, which are not always directly approachable by means of public transportation, including also trains (for additional information – Public Transportation in Barcelona).

Additionally, in contrast with trains, which do not work during the night, private transfer is available in every hour of the day (for additional information – Barcelona Airport Private Transfer at Night and Visit Barcelona at night). Of course, there is a price for this luxury treatment. Barcelona airport private arrival transfer is considered to be the most expensive method to arrive from the airport to Barcelona. However, usually it is not much more expensive than a regular taxi (for additional information – Barcelona Airport Taxis and Barcelona Airport Private Transfer or Taxi).

Moreover, it is not always the quickest method. Though train can be considered to be one of the slowest options, if the traffic is too heavy and your hotel is near a train station, for example, in Sants or near Passeig de Gràcia, you will arrive to your destination faster by train than by private transfer (for additional information – Hotels in Barcelona, Hotels near Sants and Hotels near Passeig de Gracia). In this case, you need to get off at one of the following stations: “Passeig de Gràcia”, “El Clot” or “Estacio Sants”.

If you arrive at El Prat, you can arrive to Barcelona by R2 North line. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and you need to be prepared to wait for the train because it is available just twice in an hour. Moreover, it goes just from Terminal 2, those who lands at Terminal 1 needs to get on a shuttle bus in order to arrive to the train station at the other terminal (you do not need to pay for this bus).

Trains of RENFE work also between the Girona/Costa Brava airport (GRO) and Barcelona. In case of airport of Reus (REU) the travel by train is more complicated – you need to take a taxi or a bus which transfer you to the town’s train station where you can get on a train towards Barcelona.
