Our flight will arrive during the night. We thought to book a shared transfer but we are not sure if they are working at night.

Most of the companies provide shared transfer services also at night. In fact, this is one of the few transportation options that are available in this period of the day (for additional information – Visit Barcelona at night).

Public transportation between El Prat and Barcelona, including bus 46 of TMB, the Aerobus, trains and the metro do not work at night. The metro is an exception because during the weekend it works also at night (for additional information – Public Transportation in Barcelona). Furthermore, the car rental offices on the airport are closed after midnight (for additional information – Car Rental in Barcelona, Car Rental in Spain and Car Rental from Barcelona Airport).

Nevertheless, there are night public buses which are operating during the whole night: in case of Terminal 1 you need to look for bus nr. N17, if you arrive to Terminal 2, bus nr. N16 will take you to the city (for additional information – Airport Night Bus: NitBus N17).

If you want something more direct, fast and convenient than public buses, you can take a taxi, a shared transfer or a private transfer (for additional information – Barcelona Airport Taxis and Barcelona Airport Private Transfer). The last two methods are particularly comfortable but it is required to book them in advance. Moreover, shared transfer companies usually require an extra charge for journeys during the night.

On Girona/Costa Brava airport (GRO) and on the airport of Reus (REU) there aren’t any public transportation possibilities and car rental offices are closed during the night. Therefore, if your flight lands at one of them, you need to settle for a taxi, a private transfer or shared transfer, regardless the price. Probably, the cheapest method between them is shared transfer but it is less direct and personalized than the private one (for additional information – Stops of Shared Transfer).

All in all, if you would like to travel by shared transfer during the night, you do not need to worry, it is possible (in some situation even recommended). Nonetheless, we suggest that before you book it, check if the company chosen by you indeed provides these services at night time.
