Q: I am planning a vacation in Barcelona and I would like to choose the best transportation method to and from the airport. Is there any luggage restriction on TMB Airport Bus?
A: TMB’s buses are not the most suitable transportation method for travellers who carry large baggages. Most of the time, these buses are overcrowded and, in addition, the size of your luggage is limited to 100 x 60 x 25. Baby carriages are the only exception to this rule (for additional information – Public transportation in Barcelona and Kids and Families in Barcelona).
Therefore, it is suggested to take an airport taxi or a private airport transfer instead of TMB Airport Bus (Number 46), if your budget allows it. These are personalised services and large baggages do not present any problem. Additionally, they take you to your destination directly and, in this case, you will not have to carry a heavy baggage across the city.
If you do not want to spend a significant amount of money on your journey, you can travel by Aerobus Barcelona. This is a private bus that operates between Barcelona and El Prat. It is a bit more expensive than the TMB bus, but it is a very tourist-friendly service, so it accepts any kind of luggage that also fits the restrictions of the airline you traveled with. Moreover, you can store your baggage in a separate area.
