General Information

Montjuic is one of the most important and beautiful areas of Barcelona. Although it is not located in the center of the city it is very close to it, making this area perfect if you are searching for accommodation.  

This area is recommended for visitors that on one hand want to avoid the hustle and noise of the city center, but on the other hand still want to be close to action. There are several ways to get from Montjuic to La Rambla or to Plaça d’Espanya. You can take the metro, the public bus or if you feel adventurous you can walk to the center.

Most of the hotels in this area are located on the north part of the Montjuic hill, right next to Parallel street. This area is usually recommended for tourists with children that want to save money on accommodation. If you want to experience the nightlife of Barcelona this is not a recommended area for you. In this area, there aren’t too many attractions or activity options during the night. This area is definitely worth visiting during the day, when Montjuic becomes a highly busy area and you have many activities to choose from, such as the shopping tour in the largest mall of the Mediterranean sea the Arena Mall, sightseeing from the hill and a wide variety of restaurants for the gourmands.

Tips and Recommendations

• There are no actual hotels inside the park. Most hotels are located around the park and they can vary a lot in price. Hotels situated in the east of Parallel street are usually more expensive because of their proximity to the beach. Hotels in the west part of the hill, next to Plaça d’Espanya area are closer to the metro so they are also pricey. If you are looking for something more affordable, check out the hotels located in the south part of the hill. There is a large selection when it comes to hotels in this area so always make sure to check the characteristics and its proximity to the metro.
• If you are looking for an easy access to the airport, choose a hotel next to Plaça d’Espanya area in the north-east part of the hill. Several shuttle busses come from the airport and stop directly at Plaça d’Espanya.
• The Montjuic area is recommended for tourists that do not want to splurge on accommodation. Hotels in this part of the city can be 20%-30% cheaper than those in the La Rambla area. You will find a large selection of hostels and apartments in this area of the city, therefore it is ideal for families with children.
• Parking can be found with relative ease.
