Plaça de Sant Jaume is the ruling center of the Catalonia region and the center of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona‘s Old Town. Due to this, hotels near the opera house are extremely expensive. Actually, together with hotels in the area of Plaça de Catalunya, hotels situated in this neighborhood are the most expensive ones in Barcelona. So we recommend them for those who want to be in the centre of the city and are ready to pay for it.

Tips and Recommendations

• If you want to stay in a hotel near Plaça de Sant Jaume in summer, it is recommended to book it in advance.
• If you want to save money but also to stay in the area of Plaça de Sant Jaume, near La Rambla, you can consider the El Raval neighborhood. Look for accommodation to northwest from the theatre, but please be careful, El Raval is a bit more problematic neighborhood and not everybody want to stay there, so it is recommended to read about hotels in that district before you book one of them (for additional information – Hotels near El Raval).
• Hotels near Plaça de Sant Jaume can be very crowded and noisy, mainly in the summertime. So if you have problem with crowd and noise we do not recommended the area. • If you come to Barcelona by car, accommodation in the area of Plaça de Sant Jaume is not recommended for you.
