General Information
Gracia district is not visited by many tourists, except for Park Güell which is one of the main tourist attractions of Barcelona. This makes the district more authentic and less crowded than the city center. The district is quite unique and different from Barcelona itself because up until the end of the 19th century this area was not part of the big city. It is recommended to visit this part of Barcelona on your second or third trip to the city, if the stay time is at least 3-4 days, or if there is an interest in seeing something different and more authentic than the popular attractions of Barcelona.
The best time to visit the Gracia area is in August because of the famous Festa Major de Gracia (Gracia Festival). This special event holds many nice attractions, such as different parades, a human tower, different competitions between the old parts of the neighborhood and a variety of musical performances (for additional information – Events in Barcelona).
A visit to the Gracia area might be enjoyable not only during August, but during any other month of the year because there are many other attractions and guided tours in the area and in Park Güell. These tours offer interesting information about the area and offer you the chance to get to see Casa Vicens and Casa Fuster from the inside (for additional information – Attractions and Tours in Barcelona).
